Spinning a yarn, 2025
By Cristina Doyle
Acrylic on canvas
150 x 150cm
Unframed
Brushwork is the main focus of this work, weaving its way around, through and across the surface to emphasize and highlight specific areas of the painting. Soft pink, olive green and deep dark brown predominate, their layered marks and textured strokes evoking the appearance of unraveling balls of yarn, which inspired the title. Executed on a large square canvas, this abstract piece would sit comfortably in a mid‑century style interior, especially one fitted out with warm, soft brown timber.
