Blondie, 2024
By Cristina Doyle
Acrylic on paper
68 x 87cm
Framed
This painting, which suggests the likeness of a blonde female, is constructed from an eclectic array of materials: coloured paper, charcoal, pastel, acrylic paint and consequently quite a lot of glue. It is an early piece, yet one I remain particularly fond of. I appreciate the contrast between the very flat, collage-like areas and the swift, energetic charcoal marks, and the way the cool shade of blue sits against the brilliant yellow. The work feels free and uplifting, and it never fails to make me smile when I see it displayed in the gallery. Presented in a simple white timber frame.
