This large square canvas is choc o’ block with interesting and varying materials — fabric, gift wrap, coloured paper , handmade Japanese paper and a myriad of bold acrylic colour contrasts. It is a celebratory ‘party’ of mixed media assembled to generate an atmosphere of lively confusion, kinetic energy and quiet intrigue. Large areas of broad, expressive brushwork are set against lace‑like paintwork, with spotty paper overpainted and partially camouflaged, and long brush lines that link one section of the work to another. The result is an exciting, confidently composed work, designed to stand out and bring character to a home interior.
