Ceramic, timber, red enamel
H 99 x D 27cm
A complex piece of assembled stoneware clay and bamboo that forms a cocoon-like structure. The inner core is built and fired stoneware clay, delicate and fragile, while the outer bamboo framework provides a formal, stable “skin” that protects and supports it. A unique piece of sculpture that sparks conversation and invites interpretation. Whether placed on a sideboard or a plinth, Cocoon adds height, texture and loads of intriguing shadows. It looks particularly striking against a white wall, with a lamp positioned close by to highlight its lightness of construction and the many interwoven levels and layers.
