Augustus Bowl, 2025
By Cristina Doyle
Handmade stoneware vessel with underglaze and clear glaze
Suitable for food use
Cristina handmade a series of mid-size bowls with a history theme. This particular bowl is inspired by Emperor Augustus, reflected in the use of purples once reserved for imperial wear. It is ideally suited to larger meals—just as the Romans expected—or for displaying fruit on a sideboard, perhaps a bunch of grapes? The element of humour may be subtle and lost on some viewers, but the owner can always enjoy the joke. Beautifully hand-painted, each bowl is unique and cannot be replaced.
