WORKSHOP ONE
BLOCK PRINTMAKING
One Day workshop 10am- 3pm

Get a group of friends together and re-kindle the fun of making block prints in our Black Gallery art studio under the friendly guidance of art teacher, artist and gallery owner Cristina Doyle. The relaxed workshop will cover design, drawing, cutting, inking, printing and a bit of playful experimentation. This one-day class is ideal for groups of six to eight and suits participants with little or plenty of prior printmaking experience. By the end of the day, everyone leaves with a completed print and a useful ‘print pack’ to help turn the know-how gained in the workshop into practice at home.

WORKSHOP TWO
LIFE DRAWING
Half day workshop 10am - 12.30pm or 2pm - 4.30pm

Experience life drawing the real way at Black Gallery Daylesford. Our sessions feature a professional life model and expert guidance from our resident artist, recreating the atmosphere and rigor of a traditional Art Academy. You’ll stand at an artist’s easel and learn how to capture the human figure in dynamic, moving poses, developing observation, proportion and confident mark-making.

Experimentation is encouraged with materials such as oil pastels, conté, coloured pencils, coloured paper and scissors — to find new ways of seeing and expressing the body. Whether you’re beginning or building on existing skills, our supportive, friendly environment helps you push your practice and enjoy the thrill of drawing from life.

Join us at Black Gallery Life Drawing to refine technique, expand your materials repertoire, and reconnect with the core discipline that has shaped artists for centuries. Sessions are hands-on, tutored and inspiring — the real thing for serious learners and curious creatives alike.

WORKSHOP THREE
MIXED MEDIA ART
One day workshop 10am - 3pm

The vibe of this workshop is quirky, free-spirited and all about having fun, so gather a few mates together and plan something delightfully out of left field.

Suited to a group of 6–8 people for a creative day of cutting, pasting, painting, compiling and playful experimentation. This workshop is perfect for makers who want to stretch their imagination and try new approaches, turning ordinary ephemera into the unexpected and wonderfully way out.

Coloured paper, scissors, fabric, paint, oil pastel and plenty of PVA paste are the chosen media for this class, and a relaxed spirit of letting go is very much de rigueur.

Don’t freak out though — Black Gallery Daylesford will be providing the ideal in-house tutor to get you confidently started.

Connection is central to the workshop. You’ll learn as much from the group as from the exercises. The team will work together to experiment with printing and then review the results at the end of the day..
