Made from 35 individual mark marking exercises this painting is primarily a collage on canvas.
The sheets were mixed, matched and arranged via texture and tonal value to form a background over which broad, flat coloured areas were added.
Why is it called Backbone?
The vivid yellow stripe running from top to bottom acts as a framework to hold the composition together much like a spine.
